Who we are
Delectus is a recruitment and job hosting platform operated in South Africa. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and how it is handled under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
What we collect
- Account details: name, email address, phone number and a password (stored only as a one-way hash).
- Candidate profile: headline, summary, skills, work history, education, location, salary expectations, availability and the CV files you upload. We extract text from CV files to suggest skills and to score matches.
- Employer details: company name, description, contact details, logo and the job posts you create.
- Activity: applications, saved jobs, notifications, sign-in times and technical logs (request identifiers, IP address) kept for security and support.
How we use it
- To run your account and show you the portal.
- To match candidates and jobs and show the reasons for each match.
- To send transactional messages such as password reset codes, job review outcomes and application updates.
- To moderate content, investigate reports and prevent abuse.
Who sees your information
Candidates choose whether their profile is discoverable by employers. When discoverable, employers see your name, headline, skills, experience and location, but not your contact details or CV file. Your contact details and the CV you chose are released to an employer only when you apply to one of that employer's jobs. Platform moderators can view profiles and posts to enforce the rules. We do not sell personal information.
Retention
Profiles and CVs are kept while your account is active. You can delete individual CVs at any time. Account deletion requests are handled through support and remove personal data, keeping only anonymised audit records required for security.
Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting privacy@delectus.co.za.
